 Standard Features:
Engine
Based on the powerful, durable and well-proven KDX200 engine
More power and torque at all speeds
Cylinder head is mounted to the frame at two points to reduce vibration
Crankshaft balance ratio of 78 percent cuts vibration felt by the rider
Hollows in the crankshaft flywheels have lightweight covers to increase the primary compression ratio, help low and mid-range power and sharpen throttle response
KIPS with Guillotine Exhaust Valve
Produces good torque and power over the entire rev range
Increases piston sealing and compression
Liquid Cooling
Dual radiators have the capacity to handle the heat output of the powerful engine
Water pump has a mechanical type seal for durability
Assures greater reliability
Six-speed Transmission
Six speeds provide a gear for every situation
Smooth shifting for ease of use
Oil level window provided
43mm Conventional Cartridge Fork
20-way compression damping for greater adjustability
Chamfered fork bushings and pistons help eliminate stiction to soak up tiny "stutter" bumps
Cast-aluminum upper and forged-aluminum lower triple clamps hold the 43mm diameter tubes in rigid alignment
High-tensile Steel Perimeter Frame
Based on the KX perimeter frame, the KDX220R frame is built of box-section and tubular high-tensile steel
Box-section top frame members tie the steering head directly to the swingarm pivot, for outstanding rigidity and strength
The 26.5-degree steering head angle and short wheelbase contribute to quick handling
Straight-line ability is not sacrificed for quick handling, thanks to the incredible frame rigidity
UNI-TRAK Rear Suspension
Nitrogen-filled, aluminum-body, remote-reservoir rear shock has 20-way compression and 18-way rebound damping, and adjustable threaded spring pre-load
Temperature-compensating rebound damping keeps things under control even when the shock heats up under strenuous conditions
Dual Box-section Aluminum Swingarm
Thin-wall swingarm is built of cast and extruded pieces for extreme rigidity
Front and Rear Disc Brakes
Floating front disc brake is similar to the KX125 and KX250
Twin-piston front caliper provides excellent stopping power
O-ring Drive Chain
O-rings keep dirt and water out, but keep lubrication in for longer chain life
Enduro and Trail Equipment
Headlight and taillight for long rides or enduro competition requirements
Odometer to track the rider's progress
Large 2.9-gallon tank allows great range, but is narrow for comfort
Rear fender bag for tools or snacks, and brush hand guards
Snail-type chain adjusters for quick wheel changes and chain adjustments
U.S. Forest Service-approved spark arrestor keeps the KDX220 environmentally friendly
249cc Four-stroke Single Cylinder Engine
Silent cam chain runs quietly and reliably, while automatic cam chain tensioner maintains more precise cam timing without maintenance
Oil-level window provided for easy and accurate inspection
Six-speed transmission
Liquid Cooling
Maintains consistent engine temperatures for long engine life and sustained power during hard use
Allows tighter engine clearances for quieter running and more power
Automatic fan keeps things cool even in traffic
Includes a temperature gauge
Four Valve Cylinder Head
Boosts low-end torque and provides better breathing for more power at high rpm
Compact combustion chamber for increased compression ratio without detonation on today's gasolines
Provides maximum valve area for optimum flow
Double Engine Balancers
Engine runs smoothly from idle to redline for rider comfort and less fatigue
Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release (KACR)
KACR helps to ensure quick, easy starts
Capacitor Discharge Ignition with Electronic Advance
Precisely controls timing no matter how fast the rpm changes
Fewer moving parts for long, trouble-free life
Semi-flat Slide CVK Carburetor
Precisely meters fuel for good fuel economy
Provides quick throttle response
Handlebar-mounted choke makes starting and warm-up easier
Long-travel Suspension
Designed to provide a smooth ride on and off the road
Universal Tires
Provide good traction on and off the road
Semi-double Cradle Frame
Made with same high-tech, round-section high-tensile steel as the world-class KX motocross bikes
Aluminum Skid Plate
Protects engine against rocks and trail debris when the going gets tough
Detachable Aluminum Rear Subframe
Helps keep weight to a minimum and simplifies maintenance by providing better access to the rear shock, airbox and carburetor
Bottom-link UNI-TRAK Rear Suspension
Lowers the center of gravity for better handling
Progressive rate provides a smoother, more controlled ride
Features adjustable preload shock absorber with four-way rebound damping
Lighting and USFS-Approved Spark Arrestor
Street-legal lighting with turn signals
U.S. Forest Service-approved spark arrestor
Theft Deterrent
Ignition switch incorporates steering lock
Rear Fender Tool Pouch
Extra space for riding accessories
