Great fun ski, not good for choppy water. A set of after market sponsons helps stabilize in medium to choppy water. Flat water skiing with a few mods like, intake grate, sponsons, air filter mods. There won't be much on the water that can keep up. It has been on radar @ 71.5 mph. Flat-water buoy course unbeatable. I can see why some people dislike the Ultra, as it is a little unpredictable at times. Where as the 3 seater STX series have a lot less agile behavior, and in my opinion nowhere as much fun to ride the Ultra 150. I wouldn't recommend the Ultra 150 for a first ski. The STX 900 has 3 seater stability and solid 100 horsepower for most conditions. If you’re a freak like me and enjoy scaring yourself regularly, buy an Ultra with a few mods.
