St. Louis, MO - Kawasaki enjoyed another successful weekend as Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Grant Langston won his second consecutive 125 Eastern Regional THQ AMA Supercross series event in front of 53,197 fans at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.
At the start of the 15-lap 125 main event, Langston blasted his Kawasaki KX250F out of the gate, taking the $1,000 Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award and a commanding lead on the rest of the field. Langston quickly gained additional ground and never looked back, leading all 15 laps and cruising to the finish line with a 9.459-second margin of victory over Davi Millsaps.
“This was the best start I have probably ever had,” said Langston. “I crashed in my heat race, and I had a bad gate pick, so the great start was really surprising. I am going to donate the $1,000 Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award to the tsunami relief fund.”
Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider and Langston’s teammate Matt Walker was nursing a stitched-up left thumb for the main event following a crash with Robbie Horton in his qualifier. Despite the injury, Walker started in fourth place and held his position up to lap nine but then crashed twice and eventually slowed to finish 21st.
Langston continues to hold the lead in the 125 Eastern Region Supercross standings by a seven-point margin over Davi Millsaps 72 to 65. Walker is in fifth with 38 points.
In 250 action, Kawasaki’s Michael Byrne registered another top ten finish aboard his Kawasaki KX250. Despite having to deal with a sore shoulder from his fall in Atlanta, he would battle up front for most of the race before bringing home an eighth place finish. Ricky Carmichael was the winner. Byrne remains in eighth place in the overall 250 point standings with 103 points.
The THQ AMA Supercross Series heads to Daytona Beach. Fla., next Friday for the tenth round of the 16-event series.
