Indianapolis, IN - Chad Reed (Yamaha) re-enforced his runner-up position in the AMA Supercross series by finishing second at round six in the RCA dome, Indianapolis. Series’ leader Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) won the race, Kevin Windham was third. Frenchman David Vuillemin rode to fifth, defending SXGP World champion finished eighth. Carmichael now leads standings with 145 points, Reed is second with 113 points, Vuillemin is sixth with 83 points.
Yamaha veteran Erick Vallejo grabbed the holeshot in front of 52,833 fans. Carmichael quickly moved into the leas and led every lap. Defending Supercross champion Reed went from fourth to second in the opening lap. For most of the race Chad kept in contact with Carmichael but he could not close the gap to less than five seconds. David Vuillemin was only 11th on the opening lap but he had the speed to quickly remount. Unfortunately Vuillemin mad too much mistakes and finished fifth after a long battle with Ernesto ‘Ernie’ Fonseca (Honda).
Yamaha’s Kelly Smith took the holeshot and led the 125 race and led for the first three laps before getting passed by Grant Langston (Kawasaki). Davi Millsaps (Suzuki) won the race in the end, ahead of Langston and Josh Hansen (KTM). Brock Sellards came home fourth on the YZ250F. Round seven takes place in the Qualcomm stadium, San Diego next Saturday (February 19).
