Great choice!

After owning a 1983 Honda Shadow VT500 for over 3 years, it was time progress to a bigger bike with a bit more power - although I'm not a "crazy" rider (40+ with a wife and 2 kids). I would class myself as a very responsible rider - completed the MSF rider, highly recommended to ALL riders. I've been doing my research on the Vulcan 900 Classic for several weeks, and went to this years Motorcycle Show in Washington, DC where the Vulcans were on display. Loved the Classic look of this bike from Day 1. My only concern was the belt versus shaft drive. But after inquiring more at my local dealer and reading over 40 reviews posted here, those concerns were dispelled! So, I'm now also a proud owner of a 2006 VULCAN 900 Classic, and have already ridden over 700 miles in just over a week - taking it in to the dealers for its first scheduled sevice soon. This bike is AWESOME! Great looks, handlings very well, good fuel economy, etc. Getting accustomed to the heal shifter which is very smooth in its action. Brakes are good - I tend always to use both front and rear brakes as taught by MSF. There is some engine noise in low gear, but not noticeable in higher gears - I was informed this is "normal" for Vulcans. I have also experienced some occasional backfiring while down-shifting, but again the dealers say this is "normal". Overall, I am loving this bike, and looking forward to many more miles on the road - this weekend rode with a buddy (he rides a Vulcan 1600 Nomad) via US Route 40 (scenic route) to Keysers Ridge and back - approximately 240 miles return. This ride was awesome with lots of twisting roads, and very little traffic for most of the ride on the scenic roads. I would highly recommend purchasing this bike!!!!!!
