I just logged 150 miles this weekend in Johnson Valley. (50 in J.V., 50 in Glamis and 50 in Ocotillo Wells.) First ride in Glamis without paddle tires was not so fun. I had to keep it in 4WD the whole time. Felt somewhat bulky in the dunes. (I know...Wolverine is heavy, I'm heavy, no paddles) second Ride Ocotillo, a lot better. It does great in 4WD climbing mountains and mud hills and the rest of the desert in 2WD including the washes. J.V. same thing. The Wolverine starts every time and runs smooth. Even being a big guy, I always feel like I have enough low end power to climb anything in 4WD.
I also found it impossible to get the front end up to cross little washes or woops at medium or fast speeds. Oh the miles of woops at J.V. I think I hit them all...I’ve always had good luck with Yamaha products and this one seems no different. It will be a better machine for my wife as soon as she delivers our second. Love the speedometer and trip counter gauge and the 2WD and 4WD button. Don't care for the suspension and mid range power. I realize it’s not the raptor 700 but it seems Yamaha has the technology to do better on shocks. Nice Quad.
