What a great decision...

I bought it in the early spring of 2004, right after they first shipped, and I really couldn't be happier. It starts every time. I've never had a problem with it. It has a 500 mile break-in period which I observed (no hard accelerations, and don't exceed 30 MPH or something like that) and once I got through that break-in period I showed it no mercy. It has very respectable acceleration and it's fast too, for a scooter. I'm 195 lbs. (sometimes more, sadly) and it does 50 MPH with me on it, and 45 with me and a rider on the back. The 50cc scooters I test rode were fine, but they were kind of under-powered compared to this one, and the Vino 125 wasn't that much more than the much smaller 50cc Vino. The gas tank is surprisingly small (just one gallon) and you should put 92-94 octane in it. Don't worry, that tiny gas tank lasts me a couple weeks of occasional riding or one week of frequent riding. The long and the short of it? I retired my Kawasaki Ninja 500 (it was my city bike) when I got this thing and I couldn't be more pleased. Plus, you can park the scooter on the sidewalk and cops don't even look at you funny. When I did that with my motorcycle, I was bound to get a lecture, or a ticket. I mentioned that I drove the Vespa, and I like the Vino 125 better than my friend's Vespa 150, which feels much heavier and less responsive than my Yamaha. I think it's because the Vespa is made with steel bodywork as well. The curved shroud on the front of the scooter (your feet sit behind it when you're riding) is steel on the Vespa, but is plastic on all the modern Japanese scooters, so they feel lighter. My Vino doesn't feel too light, or sketchy. It's very stable and fun.

Upgrades/Accessories:  None. The cargo area under the seat will hold a full size helmet or nearly a bag of groceries. I can personally attest to the fact that one six pack and several small grocery items fit in that cargo area! There is a little cargo rack on the back, but I have never used it except my girlfriend kind of gets pushed 1/2 onto the seat and 1/2 onto the cargo rack when we are riding together. Maybe a little pillow on the cargo rack would help!
