After a 32 year ownership hiatus I decided that I was getting bored with hot rod and custom cars. When I saw the '03 Drifter 1500 I knew that I had to have one to complement my '41 Ford. Now the Ford will be going because I'm having so much fun on two wheels. I am riding again with the same crowd from years gone by. Our day trips through New England and New York are usually about 600 miles round trip. This is the most comfortable bike that I have owned or ridden. It gets more attention than the H-D's that I ride with. Most think that it's a new Indian. They are surprised when I tell them about it. I could have bought another bike to be like everyone else but this one is so unique. This is a very satisfying machine that is comfortable, reliable, has good fuel economy and a very torquey engine. Throttle response is crisp and right there when needed. It's very smooth and vibration free. This will be the bike that I retire with as I am 56 years of age, and feel like I'm 24 when I ride. I put on 6,000 miles last year and loved every minute. I would highly recommend this bike to anyone looking for an unusual big V-twin cruiser.
Upgrades/Accessories: I have added many factory and aftermarket accessories for convenience as well as comfort.
I have added; large leather saddle bags, passenger seat and floorboards, leather tank bib, windshield and some additional lighting on the rear. I have put on LED stop and turn lights, 4 1/2" spotlights on the front and an Indian tear drop head light. My LED tail light is also a tear drop LED for better night time visibility. I also made a minor modification to the muffler because it is just too quiet. I needed a little rumble but didn't want it to be loud.
