The Ninja 250R is a fantastic starter bike. As a completely new rider, this bike is forgiving of new rider mistakes and makes learning to ride easy. While I did ding it for performance and comfort, don't let those dissuade you if you are seriously considering this bike. As a 250cc sportbike, it lacks some of its larger sibling's get up 'n go, but I can keep up with my husband's Vulcan 750, so it's still pretty quick. On longer rides (mainly my 1.5hr commute to work) I find the saddle gets uncomfortable towards the end, but nothing agonizing :) The only other uncomfortable part is I am outgrowing the bike, so my long legs are a little cramped right now.
Overall, I don't regret the money I paid for it. Fantastic bike!
Upgrades/Accessories: The bike is still totally stock. Only adjusted the brake pedal to accomodate my long legs.
Accessories purchased: Joe Rocket Manta tankbag (love it!), Oxford tailbag (would chose another tailbag if I had a choice.)
