For the rider seeking the incredible thrill and excitement that only a Kawasaki JET SKI® can provide, the 800 SX-R™ is the way to go. Generating 699 pounds of thrust, the 800 SX-R is the modern version of the 400 cc JET SKI that sparked the personal watercraft craze back in 1973. With a 781 cc two-stroke engine providing the most power available in a production Kawasaki stand-up, it’s easy to see why Kawasaki remains the market leader in personal watercraft innovation.

Providing all that excitement is that legendary two-stroke powerplant, fed by a pair of 40 mm Mikuni carburetors. Waterproof, maintenance-free capacitor discharge ignition (CDI) system with digital advance, aggressive exhaust port timing and a large-diameter exhaust pipe all add up to incredible top-end power. But that doesn’t mean a noisy, unreliable machine; to help reduce underhood temperatures and suppress noise, a water jacket surrounds the exhaust pipe. The 800 SX-R also comes equipped with a freshwater flush fitting that is adaptable to a standard garden hose and helps operators rinse out the motor’s cooling lines.

The hull of the 800 SX-R also sets the standard for innovation and performance. It’s designed for exceptional stability yet does not sacrifice turning prowess. This increased stability not only enhances rough-water handling for racers, it also makes it easier for beginners to master stand-up riding more quickly. The hull design also provides more footwell area to give the rider more room to maneuver, vary foot placement and shift body weight. Additionally, the handlepole placement provides optimum control and comfort. There’s even soft padding covering the tray area for improved rider comfort.

Construction of the 800 SX-R hull is out of fiberglass reinforced plastic, which helps to make the hull as light as possible while retaining maximum strength. Extra fiberglass has also been placed in key areas to further improve hull durability and sponsons are placed just under the hull/top deck bond line to enhance turning. The hull's compact size also simplifies transport and storage; it even fits in the bed of a standard-sized pickup truck!

The top deck of the 800 SX-R is also made of fiberglass reinforced plastic so it’s tough and damage-resistant; virtually unsinkable. That’s also because of integrated foam flotation that is built into the deck and handlepole.
