When the Kawasaki JET SKI® STX™-12F watercraft debuted on the 30th anniversary year of JET SKI watercraft, it was hailed as the cleanest personal watercraft in the industry. It also featured a lower manufacturer's suggested retail price than any other four-stroke model, prompting Popular Mechanics to proclaim that the STX-12F "…is clearly the best buy in 4-stroke watercraft."
The magazine added in its May 2003 issue, "It's quiet, strong and so understressed it should last forever."
The 2004 STX-12F features a larger 16.4-gallon fuel tank for more riding time between fill-ups. It also features a redesigned reverse bucket that delivers more thrust for improved direction control when backing. The reverse bucket is also made of new injection molded material to prevent corrosion.
